What is SODAMNTUFF? Social music, explained

By the SODAMNTUFF team · · 4 min read

SODAMNTUFF is a social music platform. The music comes first and the social part grows out of it: you follow an artist because of a track, you meet other listeners in a listening session, you discover the next artist through the Top 10. It is free for artists and for listeners.

What you can do

  • Listen to tracks and albums from verified artists, and follow the ones you like.
  • Discover new music through the Top 10 charts, the genre pages and discovery mode.
  • Join listening sessions where a host plays music live for everyone in the room, with chat and a live mic.
  • Share tracks in posts, react, comment and message your friends.
  • Find events and shows from the artists you follow and RSVP.

What it is not

SODAMNTUFF is not a distributor and not a streaming service that pays royalties. Artists upload music to be heard and to build an audience. They keep full ownership of everything they upload and can remove it at any time. That is written down in the artist and user disclosure, which every account accepts on sign-up.

How it differs from streaming apps

On a streaming app the catalogue is the product and the artist is a name in small print. Here every artist is a verified person with a profile, posts, events and a direct line to listeners. Uploads are reviewed, so the catalogue stays small and human. Listening is free but requires an account, which keeps the community real.

Who it is for

Independent and emerging artists who want a place to share finished work and grow a following, and listeners who prefer discovering people over scrolling playlists. The platform is built in the Netherlands and the site is in English.
